April 16, 2025

Lord Parshuram, the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is widely revered for his courage, resilience, and perseverance. Celebrating his divine qualities and contributions to mankind, we celebrate Parshuram Jayanti, marking the birth of this warrior sage.

But what’s so special about Maharishi Parshuram? How is he any different from the other avatars of lord Vishnu? And why is he so widely celebrated?

Well, we will learn all of this and more about Parshuram Jayanti 2025 in today’s blog.

Who is Lord Parshuram?

Bhagwan Parashuram Jayanti

Parshuram, also known as Rama Jamadagyna, Rama Bhargava, and Virarama is one of the Dashavatara of Lord Vishnu. Born to Jamadagni and Renuka, he is one of the seven Chiranjeevis (immortals) who is believed to appear towards the end of Kaliyuga, as a guru to Kalki, the tenth and the last incarnation of Vishnu.

According to the legends, Parshuram was foretold to appear whenever evil prevailed on the earth. Hence, in ancient times, when the Kshatriya class began to misuse their power and weapons to abuse humanity and seize their belongings, parshuram came forward to restore Dharma by putting an end to the tyranny of Khastriyas 21 times (leaving some of the lineages).

Looking back at the legends, Maharishi Parshuram carried the resilience of a sage and the courage of a warrior. Therefore, he is not just worshipped for his qualities of strength, aggression, and warfare but also for patience, perseverance, and benevolence.
