Parashuram's father, Sage Jamadagni, was killed by a kshatriya king, Kartavirya Arjuna. The king wanted to possess the Kamdhenu, the wish-fulfilling cow, but he could not, and thus, this action. The death of his father led him to hate the kshatriyas so much that he decided to eradicate every kshatriya who was a bit exploited.
Kartavirya Arjuna had 100 sons, and he eliminated all of them systematically in 21 cycles. He took such a long period of time because he did not take part in a massacre but in the eradication of evil.
